"My art is a personal expression of the emotions, struggles, and uplifting moments that shape my life. Growing up in Central America as a descendant of the Mayan people, I find myself deeply connected to my heritage. Although many around me share this ancestry, I have seen parts of our culture, like indigenous languages, begin to fade, often due to a painful history. My great-grandparents were the last in our family to speak our native language, choosing not to pass it down for fear of persecution they had faced in their youth."
"In my paintings, I bring together fragments of my heritage and contemporary experiences, using art to honor my hometown and culture. By combining traditional elements with modern influences, I aim to celebrate the resilience and beauty of my roots and share these stories with the world. For me, art is a bridge to the past, a way of preserving my cultural identity and offering a piece of it to others."
